The history of Bioskop is tiVersion News · Our Philosophy · Current productions · Our History · Track Record · Team · Contact Discover interesting facts about Neue Bioskop’s history Our HistoryThe history of Bioskop is tightly linked to the history of German filmmaking since the 70ies. The label Bioskop was founded in 1973 by the directors Volker Schlöndorff and Reinhard Hauff and producer Eberhard Junkersdorf. Their common work resulted in numerous milestones of the “Neuer Deutscher Film”. Bioskop productions count some of Germany’s most well-known feature films like “The Tin Drum” (Winner of Cannes’ “Palme d’Or” and Oscar for “Best Foreign Language Film”), “The Voyager” by Max Frisch’s bestselling novel and “Death of a Salesman” starring Dustin Hoffman, based on the famous play by Arthur Miller.
Countless Awards have been won at the international festival circuit. No other German production company counts as many “Bundesfilmpreise” (German film award) as Bioskop.
In 2001, the operative business of Bioskop Film was transferred to Neue Bioskop Film. Besides Eberhard Junkersdorf, Dietmar Güntsche became second managing director. He had joined the company in 1996 and, since then, had been responsible for films like “alaska.de” and “Der alte Affe Angst”. When Eberhard Junkersdorf left the company in 2007, Wolfgang Behr entered as shareholder and producer. In addition to the company’s focus on national and international feature films, Neue Bioskop then started concentrating on the local TV market as well. For this new task the company Neue Bioskop Television was founded in 2008.
